What Will We Cover?
This is more than ¿Dónde está el baño? Spanish and Andalusian culture are inseparable to me, it's the route into the language itself, and that's what I bring to every session. Rather than organising this course around traditional topics like "food" or "transport," it's built around the real situations travellers experience, including the slightly awkward or spontaneous ones nobody prepares you for.
By the end of this course, you'll be able to:
1. Hold short, natural conversations in real travel situations — markets, bars, transport, accommodation — without relying on memorised scripts.
2. Use real, spoken Spanish rather than textbook phrasing in everyday interactions with locals.
3. Keep a conversation going even when a word escapes you, using practical wildcard strategies instead of switching to English.
4. Understand fast, informal spoken Spanish — fillers, shortened phrases, and regional pronunciation — rather than only the slow, careful version.
5. Ask for what you need — prices, directions, recommendations, help — and actually understand the answer, not just the question.
6. Handle unexpected or slightly awkward situations (misunderstandings, problems, invitations) with confidence rather than anxiety.
7. Engage with Andalusian culture as something lived, not just visited — connecting with people rather than observing from the outside.
